Educational Consultant’s Past Performance in the Service Areas

  • Michelle Kimpson is the lead consultant for Sharper Minds Literacy Group, LLC. She has worked for over thirty years as a classroom teacher, reading coach, mentor, curriculum consultant, and educational consultant across diverse schools and districts.
  • Michelle Kimpson was a featured teacher in a professional book entitled, Learning for Real: Teaching Content and Literacy Across the Curriculum written by Dr. Heidi Mills. Teachers across the country have been impacted by Michelle Kimpson’s willingness to share her experiences and expertise in professional literature as well as state and national conferences.
  • Michelle Kimpson has served as a mentor for APEC, USC, Carolina CAP, and PACE participants.
  • Michelle Kimpson has worked as a reading coach in the first coaching cohort with the South Carolina Reading Initiative (SCRI). Michelle Kimpson also served as a reading coach with the Read to Succeed Legislation where she led bi-monthly study group meetings, coached in K-3 classrooms, and led school data team meetings.
  • Michelle Kimpson has created new and innovative instructional curriculum for PreK-2nd grade teachers. During the COVID pandemic, Michelle Kimpson created capacity to develop curriculum that could be delivered virtually via distant learning.
  • Michelle Kimpson provided content literacy curriculum and workshops for K-2 social studies teachers.
  • Michelle Kimpson facilitated many professional development sessions, seminars, and book studies with teachers. A few of her sessions include: a monthly seminar titled, What Matters Most: Joyful Learning in Kindergarten, a four-day summer Reading Institute, Building Solid Relationships and Community, Kindergarten Readiness Assessment Training for teachers and STC, Nurturing Passionate Writers, and Gathering Data to Differentiate Instruction in K-2 for Administrators. Michelle Kimpson collaborated with a team to organize the annual back to school teacher conference and Closing the Achievement Gap Conference.
  • Michelle Kimpson led a year-long kindergarten seminar with various developmental topics.
  • Michelle Kimpson co-directed the Richland One Literacy Project (R1LP) with Dr. Heidi Mills, an ongoing professional development initiative that supported reading coaches in five schools.
  • Michelle Kimpson worked closely with teachers as a consulting resident in three Richland One Schools providing weekly literacy demonstrations and engagements, co-creating meaningful curriculum, classroom design, and responsive planning.
  • Michelle Kimpson is a founding teacher for the Inquiry Collaborative Group at Greenview Elementary School.
